COCKATOO ISLAND
HERITAGE INDUSTRIAL PRECINCT REPAIR WORKS
Working with Sydney Harbour Federation Trust, JXB is completing the Industrial Precinct Repair Works at Cockatoo Island. The project involves the restoration and conservation of Buildings 137, 138, 142, and 145.
The scope includes hazardous material remediation, structural repairs, masonry and roofing restoration, carpentry, hydraulic repair, and painting, with all works adhering to heritage conservation requirements.
Operating within a live environment, the team is delivering the works in staged phases to minimise disruption to visitors and ongoing island activities. The project requires careful planning and execution to navigate conservation guidelines, safety measures, and the logistical challenges of working on an island.
Upon completion, these works will enhance the longevity of the industrial precinct whilst supporting the Harbour Trust’s commitment to preserving Cockatoo Island’s historical significance.
